ICELAND Schengen Visa – What You Need To Know

ICELAND SCHENGEN VISA – WHO IS ELIGIBLE?

When it comes to the requirements for an Iceland tourist visa, it’s pretty straight forward; they are basically the same as for any Schengen tourist visa. However, it’s very important to note that there are slight variations in the Schengen visa requirements, depending on your nationality. Sometimes the Consulate or Embassy will even require additional documentation from you after you have sent it your application. Also make sure you call your local Embassy and double and triple check what the requirements are for you specifically, as articles and lists on the Internet will at best only give you the general requirements.

Another very important requirement to note for the Iceland Schengen Visa – as well as for some nationalities who are not required to have a Schengen visa – is the return flight requirement. There are several stories of people who are denied check-in because they cannot present a valid return flight. The reason for this requirement is not clear, but in short it’s the airline that is responsible if you refuse to leave the country, and as of such have now started to check that all their passengers have return flights. his means that also Americans, Australians and Canadians have to present a return flight reservation. In addition to this, your Iceland Schengen visa application will be rejected on the spot if you don’ submit a valid return flight reservation. Even the home page of Iceland’s national airline, Icelandair, states that: Citizens of other States are subject to personal border control upon arrival in Iceland (identity check, travel documents, including visa or residence permit if needed, return ticket, means of subsistence and reason for travelling). Please have your relevant documentation ready upon arrival to the border control area of the terminal.”

The Three Schengen Visa Types:

In short there are 3 different Schengen Visa Types for general tourism. It’s very important that you note this, because if you are going to a Schengen member state (or several) there are different Schengen visa types for these purposes, like business visa, transit visa or long stay visa. This article will only focus on the three different types of “short stay visa” (visa type C).

The three main tourist Schengen visa types are:

Single-entry Schengen visa
Double-entry Schengen visa
Multiple-entry Schengen visa

SINGLE-ENTRY SCHENGEN VISA:

The single-entry Schengen visa is exactly what the name implies; it gives you the right to enter whichever Schengen country you submitted your visa application to ONCE. For example, if you submitted your Schengen visa application to the French embassy of your country, you will be granted entry to France. This means that once you enter France, you cannot leave again without your visa being cancelled. Once you leave the Schengen country, you have to apply for another Schengen visa.

DOUBLE-ENTRY SCHENGEN VISA:

The double-entry Schengen visa, on the other hand, is one of the two Schengen visa types that gives you the right to enter a Schengen country twice. It is still not the same as a multiple-entry Schengen visa type, and the double-entry will only give you access to one specific Schengen country.

However, contrary to the single-entry Schengen visa, the double-entry Schengen visa will allow you leave the Schengen country you have been granted access to once, and come back again. Note that double entry means that you can only enter TWO TIMES.

MULTIPLE-ENTRY SCHENGEN VISA:

The multiple-entry Schengen visa is one of the Schengen visa types that in our opinion is the best option for anyone who is not quite sure of what they want to see in Europe. This visa will not only give you access to ALL the Schengen member countries, but it also gives you the right to enter and leave all the Schengen member countries as many times as you want, as long as it’s within a 90 day period. If you leave the Schengen Area and go to a non-Schengen country, you must remember that your Schengen visa will expire after a total of 180 days. The multiple-entry Schengen visa is usually the best option of the Schengen visa types because it gives you the most flexibility out of all the visas, both when it comes to which countries you can travel to, and when and how. When you apply for a multiple entry visa, it is mandatory to add both flight bookings, hotel reservations, and a full travel itinerary outlining your planned Europe trip.

Norway Tourist Visa – Visit the Land of the Fjords!

As a Norwegian citizen I feel it is my duty to help other travelers obtain a Norway tourist visa so they can explore this mesmerizing country in the North! Norway is a country that traditionally didn’t get have a high number of visitors, Norway has been working towards attracting more tourists from all over the world.

Norway’s capital, Oslo, has gone from being a “stopover” for tourists headed to the fjords, to becoming one of Europe’s hippest gastronomical capitals in just a few years. The city has seen a massive architectural boom, with the building of a new Edward Munch museum by the harbor, Aker Brygge, as well as the development of a new bar code style skyline. In this post we’ll tell you what you need to know to apply and be accepted for a Norway tourist visa so that you can experience Norway’s most famous scenic sights like Prekestolen, Flåm-banen, the Northern lights, fantastic fjords and mountains and the impressive Atlantic Ocean Road.

Remember that everyone who travels to a Schengen member state is required to have a valid travel insurance. Norway Tourist Visa and Understanding the Schengen Visa:

Norway is a part of the Schengen area, but not a part of the E.U. Many people get confused by this, which is more than understandable. The Schengen Visa Application Agreement was made specifically to make border crossings between the Schengen Member States easier, so even if it seems like a daunting task now to apply for your Norway Schengen Visa, just remember that once you have it, you can travel freely within 26 Schengen Member States for 90 days!

The Norway Schengen Visa is the same as any other Schengen Visa. The visa gives you the right to travel all the Schengen countries as you wish for a period of up to 90 days, within a 180 day period. You can leave the Schengen area (and thereby “stopping” the countdown on your visa) by entering a Non-Schengen country, like the UK.

Remember that your 90 days are only valid within a period of 180 days. This effectively means that you can travel in and out of the Schengen Area for 6 months, as long as the combined stay in the Schengen Area does not exceed 90 days in total, and as long as you hold a valid multiple entry Schengen visa (we will write a post on the different Schengen visa types shortly!). To understand the rules of the Norway tourist visa, or the Schengen visa, better, we’ve made a little calculation below for you to illustrate it:

Trip start date: May 1st. 2016

Trip end date: September 28th

As you can see, this trip will last a 150 days in total. But you are only allowed 90 days in the Schengen area on one Schengen Visa. So how is this possible?

It’s really not that complicated. Let’s say you spend a total of 45 days traveling Norway, Iceland, France, Spain, Italy, Germany and Malta. Then you go to Great Britain for the next 30 days. Even if you have now traveled for 75 days, you still have 45 days left on your Norway Schengen visa, because you left the Schengen area and went to a Non-Schengen country, within a 180-period.

Let’s say you go to Portugal (a Schengen member state) after your stop in Great Britain; your Schengen visa countdown will now start again, and you have 45 more days to travel the Schengen countries.

Norway Tourist Visa – Requirement Check List:

When you begin your application process for your Norway Schengen visa, the best place to start is, Want to Apply for Norway Visa OR holiday Visa.

Fill in your nationality, and click “Choose“, and then click “Visitor’s visa to Norway” on the next page.

On the next page that appears you will be able to choose what your purpose for visiting Norway is; general tourism, visiting family, visiting a boyfriend or girlfriend, business, etc.

From this page you look through the requirement, and click “How to apply“. The reason for this somewhat complicated process is that there are slight variations in required documents depending on your nationality. However there are some requirements that are generic, and we have compiled a list of all of them below:

Passport – not older than 10 years, and valid for at least 3 months after your departure date from the Schengen area
Paid visa fee (normally 60 Euros)
Filled out application form submitted through the application portal (double-check that this applies to you by using the link want to apply first)

1 or 2 passport photos not older than 3 months, size: 4,5 cm x 3,5 cm with white background. No glasses can be worn on the photo, and it must be glued to the cover letter)

Work Visa For Denmark – How to Apply and What You Need

We have already covered the Denmark Visa Requirements, but getting a work visa for Denmark is a whole different ball game.

Denmark is a small country in “Scandinavia”; a group of countries in Northern Europe, that consists of Norway, Sweden and Denmark (and sometimes also Iceland).

Denmark borders physically to Germany, and is connected to Sweden via a bridge. The Scandinavian countries are slightly (or mightily) different from the rest of Europe. These countries suffer longer, harsher winters, but also They say the Norwegians are perpetual outdoor-people, the Danes are crazy about “cozying oneself” (meaning doing anything that is nice, for example having a drink with friends, or cuddling up in front of the fire) and the Swedish are the most “organized” people of the group. A work visa for Denmark gives you free access to all of Scandinavia, in fact to all of the Schengen member states, due to the Schengen Agreement.

But what exactly are the requirements to apply for a work visa for Denmark? How do you know if you are even eligible? Where do you start the application process? Are there other things to consider? Work Visa For Denmark – What Is It and What Can You Do With It?

If you are granted a tourist visa for Denmark, searching and trying to find work is actually considered breaking the law, and will get you deported from the country. If your intention is to work in Denmark, you must first apply for and be granted a work visa for Denmark. A work visa must not be confused with a working holiday visa, which we will be covering in another article later on.

When do I need a work visa for Denmark?

If your stay exceeds 92 days for work related purposes that originally don’t require a work visa
If you are coming as a researcher staying for more than 90 days
If your company sells a product that is so specialized it needs to be fitted by you or your employees; AND the time required takes more than 90 days
If you are coming to Denmark for work related purposes, but the purpose is not clearly stated (incomplete information)
IF you are coming to Denmark in relation to submitting a tender for a task by a Danish company

When is a tourist visa for Denmark enough?

Training and internships: According to the Danish Official Port for Foreigners; “A work visa for Denmark is not required if you only receive training in Denmark and then return home and carry out the programming work in your home country.”
If you are coming as a researcher, staying for less than 90 days. If you are staying for more than 90 days, however, a residency and work permit is required
If you are visiting Denmark on invitation to participate in a screening program in Denmark in relation to a potential PhD Program at a Danish University
If you are only attending meetings and briefings

Work Visa For Denmark – Am I Eligible?

Denmark is rumored to be one of the most active European countries when it comes to having a foreign work force, but there has recently been some major changes to the country’s work immigration system. Denmark used to have something called the “Danish Green card Scheme” which would give applicants points for education, age, language skills and education. Unfortunately, as of June 10th 2016, the program has been repealed and will face a total elimination in 2018. With the exit of the Green card Scheme, the only way to apply for a work visa will be if you have a standing job offer from a Danish company. If you want to apply for a work visa for Denmark, Denmark also has something called the “Positive List Scheme”. This is a list of professions there is a specific shortage of in Denmark. This means, that if you have a job offer from a Danish employer in an occupation that is on the Positive List, you can get a work and residency permit right away.

The Positive List is divided into several different fields of professions:

Academic Work (included, but not limited to: project management, engineering, lawyers, doctors, and other academically professional occupations)
Construction
Hotel, restaurant, kitchen etc.
IT and Telecommunication
Management
Educational, Social and Religious Occupations
Sales, Purchases and Marketing
Health, Healthcare and Personal Care
Freight Forwarding, Postal Services, Storage and Engine Operation
Education and tuition

Work Visa For Denmark – Mandatory Requirements:

If you have already established that you are eligible to apply for a work visa for Denmark, the next step is to submit your application to your country’s Danish Embassy.

With your application, you must include:

Application form AR1 (find the form here)
Proof of paid visa fee
Employment contracts/job offer with information about wage as well as the terms of employment, plus job description (this cannot be more than 30 days old). The Official Portal for Foreigners in Denmark recommends using standard contracts from the relevant industry.
Documentation of relevant education in relation to the job offer (needs to be a copy in an authorized Danish or English translation).
Copy of passport (all pages that contain information, including the front page).
Documentation for authorization. This is only needed if the job requires so-called Danish authorization. You can read more about authorization at new to Denmark positive-list.
Documentation that the applicant can support him- /herself financially during his/her stay in Denmark. (This is only mandatory if the applicant is applying to work as a guest researcher. For more information, see section 6 in the application form.)

Remember that applying for a work visa for Denmark is much more complicated than a normal tourist visa, and the processing time is much longer, and can take anything from a few days and up to 30 days, depending on your situation. In some cases, multiple visits to the Danish Embassy is also required.
