Applying at the correct Consulate General of the People’s Republic of china
If you live in the consular district of: Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Vermont, You can apply at the Consulate General of the People’s Republic of China in New York

How to Apply for Chinese visa at the Consulate General of the People’s Republic of China in NYC New York City
- Please go to the website of the Consulate General of the People’s Republic of China in New York
- Scroll down to where it says: “Consulate service” and click on: “Visa and authentication service” In next page, you’ll find all the information you need to apply for your China visa from the consulate in New York,
- Click on Download Application Form
- In the next page click on Visa again it will take you to next page
- Click on Visa Application Form.pdf to download the Application form
- After download fill the form, make sure it must be typed before print and signed
STEP 2: Getting your documents ready for submission
Accurate and proper supporting documents are very important step for your visa application. Improper documents may lead to your visa rejection, you must provide the original documents along with the photocopies to the embassy.

Documents you need to get ready for tourist visa for china are:
- Valid Passport: Your passport must have at least 2 blank visa pages and its validity must be more than 6 months, you also need to provide a copy of the passport.
- Visa application form: Applications must be typed, printed and signed.
- 1 x photo: Your passport photo as per the specifications of the Chinese consulate and attached to the application form.
- Proof of residence status or legal stay: Applicable to non-US citizens
- Previous Chinese visas and/or passports: if you were a previous citizen of China who is now resident in another country
- Confirmed flight itinerary: (It is highly recommended by embassies to not buy the ticket until your visa is issued)
- Confirmed Hotel reservations during your stay in China.
- Letter of invitation (letter of guarantee) from company or individual’s confirming your plans and purpose of visit to China along with details of applicant’s and inviting person.
- ID and residence permit of Chinese host
- Birth/marriage certificate
- For Student letter of enrollment and/or notice of admission
- For minor’s consent of parents and Parent’s passports
- Employment work permit
- Bank statements and/or income tax return
Submission process
- You can submit your application to Chinese Embassy/ Consulate General based on your State of residence (Locate a Visa Office that serves your state). You may submit your application in person, or use an agent).
- Please note that you may be required to come to the Visa Office in person to have an interview as deemed necessary by a consular officer.
- Appointment is NOT required for submission or collection of your visa. Walk-in service is available during office hours.
STEP 3: Make payment for your visa application fee at the Visa Office and pick up your visa
- You must pay the visa fee once your application is processed and approved.
- You will be able to collect your passport with visa on the date printed on your Pick-up slip, unless otherwise notified by the Visa Office.
Processing Time: Regular service: 4 business days, Express service: 2-3 business days,
Rush service: 1 business day. Available only in extreme emergencies and subject to approval by the consular officer.
Note: The above processing time is average and for reference only. Some applications may require longer processing time that a pick-up date cannot be confirmed until notified by the Visa Office.

Methods of Payment
1. You must pay your visa fee upon collection of your visa. (Some HKSAR or Macao SAR visa applicants need to pay a Communication fee prior to submission.)
2. Acceptable methods of payment are: credit card (Visa, MasterCard or Union Pay only), money order, cashier’s check, WeChat Pay and Alipay.
