I am not keen on writing my travel experiences but I would like to an exception with this one and share <em>my romantic Greek getaway<\/em>. Greece is probably one of the countries that is at the top of my must-see bucket list so when my loved one asked me where I want to travel to, I instantly exclaimed \u201cGreece!\u201d He also became excited at the thought of traveling to the island of blues and whites so he insisted we <a href=\"https:\/\/schengenvisaflightreservation.com\/blog\/apply-schengen-visa\/\">apply for a Schengen visa<\/a> right away.<\/pre>\n<p>By the way if you also need a tourist visa to enter the <a href=\"https:\/\/schengenvisaflightreservation.com\/blog\/schengen-countries-area\/\">Schengen area<\/a>, here are the requirements asked by most of the Schengen member embassies:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>A filled out <a href=\"http:\/\/www.immihelp.com\/visas\/schengenvisa\/application_form_english.pdf\">Schengen visa application form<\/a><\/li>\n<li>Valid passport and copies of the front and back pages<\/li>\n<li>A couple of recent passport photos with white background<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/schengenvisaflightreservation.com\/blog\/travel-medical-insurance-2\/\">Travel Insurance<\/a> \u2013 It is best to get it from Visitor\u2019s Coverage, a more affordable and reliable insurance company.<\/li>\n<li>Proof of Travel \u2013 flight booking, hotel booking, and travel itinerary. We took two weeks off from work and told our bosses that we plan to spend our second honeymoon in the Mediterranean. Our requests were approved luckily so we went ahead and confirmed our flight booking and hotel booking.<\/p>\n<p>We intentionally want to see Athens at the tail end of our trip so as soon as we arrived at the airport we took a connecting flight to Santorini. Two weeks may be a long time but not for vacationing couples, so no time must be wasted. From Santorini, we took a half an hour land trip to the famous Oia. There were checked in at Alexander\u2019s Boutique Hotel because we read somewhere that it is one of the best sunset spots on the island. We chose the Windmill Room which resembles the shape of a windmill and has a loft overlooking the Aegean Sea. I also read that people in Santorini live for the sunsets but I didn\u2019t expect it to be so crowded. To avoid the crowd, my husband booked us a sunset cruise the following day. It is one of the most romantic views that I have seen in my life! <strong>my romantic Greek getaway!!!<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>On our third day, we travelled to another famous Greek spot, Mykonos Island. Aboard a ferry, we saw some of the best panoramic view of the southern part of Greece. If the view from the ferry was that fantastic, what more from Mykonos Island, right? After a few hours, we arrived at the port. The crystal blue waters is quite impressive at Mykonos. In Oia, we didn\u2019t spend much time by the beach because we just enjoyed the view of the caldera from the top. At Mykonos, the blue water is within reach. We couldn\u2019t wait to get to our hotel, Mykonos Bay. And what I sight it was! With a saltwater pool, a beach front view, and a great service, we really made the right choice of staying on this island for 5 days. It is what I imagined <u>my romantic Greek getaway<\/u> would be. During the day, we walked around the island. We loved spending time along Matoyianni Street, where a lot of artists sell their paintings and merchants sell their handicrafts. That is also where we had most of our lunches and dinners because we love the open-air dining idea. We also loved the view from the Mykonos Windmills.<\/p>\n<p>After spending five days in Mykonos, we travelled by air to the western part of Greece known as Corfu. We read that Corfu is the second largest Ionian Island which almost crosses the Albanian border. The flight took a little less than 4 hours from Mykonos which was a treat for us because we had such a tiring yet exciting time in Mykonos and Santorini. We hired airport transfer to the Mayor Mon Repos Palace Art Hotel, where we will stay for the next 4 days.\u00a0 The hotel\u2019s design is a combination of old Greek architecture and modern chic style. Out of all the hotels we stayed it, I think this is the best by far in terms of amenities but best location still goes to Mykonos.<\/p>\n<p>In Corfu, my husband just had one activity planned \u2013 a scooter ride. Well, he was actually convincing me to do the mountain bike guided tour but I don\u2019t think I can last pedalling on hilly terrains so he just conceded to renting a motorbike. He rented a couple of Piaggio and led the way to the back roads of the island. Seeing Corfu from different vantage points is exhilarating. We also drove to the Old Town of Corfu, which we learned is a UNESCO Heritage Site. It is filled with Venetian-designed structures constructed hundreds of years ago. There we visited a Byzantine museum that showcases unique and unusual historic icons. Finally, we visited the ruins of the monastery of Panagia Arkoudila. \u00a0It is such a beautiful place tucked from the tourist crowd. I loved every minute I spent on <strong>my romantic Greek getaway<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>We spent our last three days in Greece in its capital city, Athens. I know it was such anti-climactic to stay in the city after having spent more than a week in three different Greek islands but it was the most convenient option. Of course, we made our routine stops to the Acropolic and Parthenon. We also went to the old Agora Market and Praka. Out of all the places that we visited in Athens, what impressed me the most is the view from the Temple of Poseidon at Sounion. The place is overlooking the Island of Kea because it is at the southernmost tip of the island.
