Italy Student Visa Requirements – Am I eligible?
Applying for an Italy Student Visa differs from applying for a normal tourist visa to Italy. Due to the fact that rules vary slightly for different nationalities, there is no getting around having to check the rules for your specific nationality. Most of the rules will apply universally, but there will be certain differences. For example, the Italian embassy in Los Angeles, California, does not accept individual applications for the Italy student visa (meaning you’ll need apply through an organization). It’s important that you check these requirements in your city, state and country, as these rules are subject to change. In this article, however, we’ve done our best to simplify the basic Italy student visa requirements for you, so you’ll know exactly what to expect, and how to get your application accepted quickly and easily.
Basic Requirements for Italy Student Visa:
- Your passport needs to be valid for at least 3 months after your student program expires. This requirement varies in length; for example, some countries will require that your passport is valid for 6 months beyond the end of your stay.
- Processing times – this is one is important. A lot of students forget that scheduling and appointment at the embassy can take as long as 4-6 weeks, and processing times can take up to 4 weeks, especially during peak times. It can certainly take less time, but it is never advised to submit your Italy Student Visa application later than 4 weeks.
- Don’t make travel plans while you apply! This is explains itself. You have to submit your passport with your application, meaning you will be without your passport for the entire visa processing time.
- You must apply in person – This applies to all special visas. Usually you need to apply at the Italian embassy in your home country or country of residence, in certain cases you can apply in a different country than your own. Double check this with your embassy.
- The small writing: you are responsible for any mistakes etc., so make sure you fill everything in correctly, and usually in capital letters with no hand written corrections.
